Man arrested for arson

An arrest has been made in connection with a fire that occurred in Eufaula on Casey Drive on June 11. According to the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office, Joshua Alex Williams, 30, of Eufaula was arrested and charged with second-degree arson.

Weatherization grants awarded

Grants have been awarded to assist low income and elderly residents of Alabama with weatherizing their homes to lower energy costs. The grants, which total $494,875, support Alabama’s Weatherization Assistance Program which provides funds to improve the energy efficiency and safety of qualifying homes.

Methvin denied parole

The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles held 27 parole hearings on Thursday, May 26 during which four paroles were granted and 23 were denied. Among those that were denied included Jerry Rolf Methvin of Barbour County.

Welcome to Eufaula High School

Jerrel Jernigan, Eufaula High School varsity head football coach, was honored in his new position with a “Meet and Greet” last Thursday, June 23, at the school’s Indoor Facility. Jernigan began his career with Eufaula High School in 2015 coaching wide receivers as well as coaching basketball. Jernigan graduated from Eufaula High School where he played quarterback and led Eufaula to the 2006 Class 5A state title game. Jernigan went on to play wide receiver for Troy University were he accumulated nearly 6,000 yards receiving. He was drafted by the New York Giants and played for the Giants for three years before returning back to his hometown to coach. Holt graduates from AF Academy

GRADUATES FROM AIR FORCE ACADEMY - 2nd Lieutenant Jailyn Holt graduated from the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, with a degree in Legal Studies and commissioned as an intelligence officer in the United State Air Force. Lt Holt will attend technical school training at Goodfeller AFB, TX. She is a 2018 graduate of Loveless Academic Magnet High School and the daughter of Pastor Edward and Jurilyn Holt of Elam Baptist Christian Fellowship in Clayton.
