Meeting rules to be reviewed

It’s hard to imagine that schools are opening for a new term and students are back in the classrooms. It seems as if they start so early but scheduling mandates the early school year beginnings. We published our first “Back to School” special edition last week which had a lot of beneficial information. We appreciate advertisers, school personnel and others working with us to make it happen. ****** Get outside at night to watch the most popular meteor shower, known as the Perseids. These meteor showers are active between July and September but will peak on August 13. The full moon may hinder their appearances but maybe we can catch a few !

LEADERSHIP BARBOUR RETREAT

The new members of Leadership Barbour Class XVI held their retreat at Lakepoint State Park on July 26 and 27. Presenter Dick Hammond of Leadership on the Move led the group through team building exercises and explored leadership skills. One day per month during the next nine months the class will tour industries, medical facilities, government agencies, and educational facilities in Barbour County. Pea River CEO presents broadband proposal to Clayton City Council

Jeff Hodges, CEO of Pea River Electric Cooperative and Pea River Electric Board Member Braxton Green were guests at the July 18 Clayton City Council meeting held at City Hall. Hodges expressed that Pea River Electric was interested in working with the City of Clayton with plans and funds for Clayton and Barbour County to implement high speed internet.
