General Election to be held November 8

Voters casting ballots in the November 8 General Election will have the opportunity to elect officeholders who will serve statewide as well as district and local positions. The 2022 ballot will include the customary Democratic and Republican candidates seeking office but many positions also will include a candidate from the Libertarian Party, giving three candidates in some races.

Happy Fall Y’all

WELCOME TO FALL Y’ALL - Linda Spivey proudly displays the Fall Tree at River Oaks Assisted Living in Eufaula. Mrs. Spivey, along with other residents, spent several days hand painting pinecones for the tree. The joy the tree has brought to the residents and visitors is “priceless.” The tree remains up through the year and is decorated by the residents for the appropriate season. Mrs. Spivey lived in Louisville before making her home at River Oaks.

75 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 10,1947 On Friday night, October 10, local football fans will attend the first home game of the season, the game to be played by Clayton and Rehobeth. This is also the first game to be played on the recently lighted athletic field. Probable line-up for the Clayton team for Friday night is as follows: Murray Warr, Claude Talley, Wilbur Smith, James Smith, John Williamson, Lawrence Hurst, Billy Barefield, Don Bush, Clarence Milldrum, Joe Warr and Tommy Warr.

10 amendments to appear on ballot

Publications of 10 constitutional amendments that will appear on the November 8 General Election ballot began the required advertisements this week in The Clayton Record. The 10 amendments will appear on the ballot along with the election of candidates seeking election statewide as well as local races.
