County highway project awarded grant funds

Barbour County has been awarded a highway project through the Annual Grant Program, a program created under the Rebuild Alabama Act. The project calls for the resurfacing of County Road 49 at the County Road 89 intersection in Springhill to the Russell County line. The grant will pay $250,000 of the total estimated cost of $714,321.87 with the remaining $464,321.87 coming from other sources.

Pea River Electric Annual Meeting slated for July 14-15

The 2023 Annual Membership Meeting of Pea River Electric Cooperative is set for Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15. The annual meeting will be held in two sessions to accommodate the greatest number of cooperative members. A business meeting will be held Friday, July 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Flowers Center in Ozark. The Flowers Center is located at the intersection of E. College St. and Carroll Ave. in Ozark. The purpose of this business session will be to discuss and pass on reports of the previous fiscal year, receive annual meeting and operational reports, and any other business that may be properly presented. Registration for the Friday night session will begin at 5:00 p.m.
