Mt. Zion Baptist Church to celebrate 200th Anniversary January 21
Mount Zion Baptist Church, located on County Road 9 in Louisville, will celebrate its 200th Anniversary on Sunday, January 21. According to Rev. John Daniel Johnson, church pastor, special services will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Local students named to honors lists
Troy University is pleased to announce students who have been named to the Chancellor's List and Provost’s List for the Fall Semester and Term 2 of the 2023-2024 academic year. Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0 qualify for the Chancellor's List and students who are register for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of at least 3.65 qualify for the Provost’s List.
Calvary Church adding new addition to the church
Construction is progressing on Phase I of a new addition to Calvary Church in Clio. Slab work is completed and a target date for construction to be completed is in the first quarter of 2024.

A ribbon cutting and check presentation for the Barbour County Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was held on Saturday, October 7, during EufaulaFest. Julie Odom of the Alabama Partnership for Children presented a check to Allie Logan and Mitzi Clayton, co-coordinators for Barbour County.
BC NAACP hold annual Freedom Fund Banquet
Branch 5075 of the Barbour County NAACP held its annual Freedom Fund Banquet at Lakepoint State Park on October 7th. The theme for this year’s event was “All Together for Justice.” President Jewel Harris received welcome remarks from County Commissioner Frances Shipman, City Councilman Otis Hill, State Representative Barry Forte and President of the Alabama State NAACP Conference- Bernard Simelton.
