On Saturday, May 11, the NAACP Barbour County Branch 5075 Economic Empowerment Chairperson hosted a financial literacy workshop at the Eufaula Carnegie Library. There were 21 workshop participants who came out to learn more about saving money, investing money in their own businesses, and tips on living a frugal lifestyle.
A couple was arrested in Eufaula Saturday night who were wanted for a May 8 murder in Dothan. Eufaula Police and a Barbour County Sheriff’s Office deputy were able to find and turn Courtney Ingram, 33, and Richard Bishop, 31, over to Dothan police after being taken into custody. They were both charged with Murder for the death of Patrick Parrish. Ingram was arrested on Lunsford Drive and Bishop was arrested near Jack’s.
Barbour County has been chosen to receive $7,319.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a national board that is chaired by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, United Jewish Communities, Catholic Charities, USA, National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA and United Way of America.

A simple painted wall at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula has been transformed to a beautiful display of art. It’s an idea that materialized when the Alabama Nursing Home Association sent this year’s theme for National Skilled Nursing Care Week.
Members of Leadership Barbour Class XVII recently held their Education Day as guests of Wallace College/Sparks Campus in Eufaula. The group was greeted by Dean of the Campus, Mickey Baker, and Dean of Instructional Services, Leslie Reeder.
Two Eufaula High School students have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These National Recognition Programs grant under-represented students academic awards that can be included on college and scholarship applications.
Anna Day of Clio has been named to Southern New Hampshire University's Summer 2023 Dean's List. The summer terms run from May to August.
Center are shown enjoying balloon volleyball on September 6 when Bill Elkins of Eufaula organized the fun event. He plans to come monthly to play balloon volleyball with the group along with having a Penny Auction on occasions.
