The Alabama House of Representatives’ point man on congressional redistricting says there won’t be any bills other than the new map legislation in this month’s special session. Not even a needed fix to a new criminal penalties law he sponsored earlier this year.
Get ready for another increase on the price of postage stamps. Sunday, the U.S. Postal Service will raise the price of a stamp from 63 cents to 65 cents on July 9. You also will pay more to mail a postcard. The fee will increase from 48 cents to 51 cents and postcards and letters sent internationally will increase from $1.45 to $1.50. ****** It’s yet to be seen if we will be affected by the annual dust storms that make their way from the Sahara Desert in Africa. While the dust storm is a phenomenon, it does make its way westward from the coast of Africa. Hopefully, south Alabama will not be affected!

I guess all kids love to hear the story of their birth. After all, it's the tale in which they're the star attraction. My daughter certainly loves to hear about her entrance into the world. She makes me tell it to her practically every night as a bedtime story.

We have been enduring extreme heat indices in the past few days and what a better time to get under the water hose like we use to do as children, jump in a pool or simply stay in air conditioned rooms!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend in observance of our nation’s birthday. We’ve been under extreme heat advisories with little chances of rain so it’s been a good time to cool down in a pool. Importantly, we must all take precautions to prevent chances of a heat stroke.
