Celebrates 90th Birthday!

Mrs. Bonnie Hagler of Louisville celebrated her 90th birthday Monday, April 28, taking a trip with her daughters to Eufaula for a day of fun, food and frolic! Turning 90 is a significant milestone! It signifies a major achievement in life, marking a journey of nine decades. “Miss” Bonnie surely had a wonderful time reflecting and celebrating with her girls! She is the mother of four daughters, Donna Williams and Deborah Tew of Eufaula, Pam Williams of Abbeville and Peggy Hagler of Clayton. She also has nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

Peanut Brittle Recipe

2 cups sugar 1/4 cup water 3/4 cup Karo light corn syrup 2 cups raw peanuts 2 teaspoons baking soda Grease two cookie sheets with butter and set aside. In a 4-quart saucepan on medium heat, cook sugar, water, Karo and raw peanuts. Stir constantly until mixture becomes a very light caramel color. Remove from heat and continue to stir. Add baking sod and continue stirring until it becomes a true caramel color. Pour brittle onto pans. After a few minutes, begin stretching brittle with your fingers and break into pieces. Lay brittle on wax paper to cool.

HOLY WEEK SERVICES

Combined services for Holy Week will be held this week at the Clayton Methodist, Clayton Baptist, and Rocky Mount Methodist churches. Dr. Larry Teasley, pastor of the Methodist churches, and Shane Traylor, Baptist Church minister, will lead the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services.
