Evergreen Baptist Church to celebrate 150 years this Sunday

Evergreen Baptist Church will celebrate its 150th Anniversary on Sunday, July 27. The public is invited to attend this historic occasion beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a covered dish lunch following in the Fellowship Hall. This quaint church, located west of Clayton off of Highway 239, has sustained through years by the leadership of the pastors that have served this small country church by sharing the word and love of God. Their dedication has enriched and transformed lives and brought people together for fellowship for a century and half.

Celebrates 90th Birthday

Mrs. Sylvia Banks (Momma Banks) celebrated her 90th birthday on Thursday, July 10th. Family and friends gathered from near and far for a three-day event to help her celebrate this special occasion. The celebration was held at the Event Center in downtown Clayton. Special guests in attendance were her children, Scott Banks, Minister Bobby Banks and Ronald Farrior; and her brothers, Ron Richardson and Jeff Richardson, who went to Super Bowl III with the Jets.

Freedom and The Law

In the Old Testament, the people of Israel are commanded to follow the law. In the New Testament, we are told that we are no longer under the law and the law no longer applies. I thought we are supposed to follow and obey the Ten Commandments, and we are to obey all God commands. How do we square Old Testament teaching with New Testament teaching?
