County’s municipalities show population decline
BEASLEY Municipalities in Barbour County have lost population steadily since 2020 through the 2022 census figures, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Medical Service to offer EMT classes virtually
Individuals interested in public safety such as those working or wishing to work with a fire department, an ambulance service,as an emergency service technician or a police officer ie being offered the opportunity to attend the Emergency Medical Technician Program via Distance Learning. Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 26 and continue through September 26. Classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Southeast Alabama Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. is offering these classes for students to attend lectures from any location with internet connection. Tests, however, must be taken at a site with a supervisor present. Skills must be conducted at a sponsoring EMS agency or the SEAEMS Training Center located at 2323 West Main Street in Dothan.
Firefighters participate in training
Firefighters representing 10 Fire Departments from two counties gathered at White Oak Fire Department last week for training sessions with instructors from the Alabama Fire College. There were 38 firefighters that attended the training event.

Woman killed at field party in Louisville
A large field party on Hobdy Station Lane between Louisville and Clayton turned deadly Saturday night when a woman was fatally shot and another person injured. An estimated 900 people were congregated at the gathering in a field on the rural road off Highway 51 just north of Louisville when calls for assistance were dispatched about 11:15 p.m..
New principals named at Eufaula City Schools
Eufaula City Schools has named Sean Clark as principal of Admiral Moorer Middle School (AMMS) and Tara Sneed as principal of Eufaula Elementary School (EES). Sean Clark has been a Mobile County Public Schools principal for the past three years.
Traffic stops result in arrests made by deputies
Routine traffic stops resulted in arrests when drivers were stopped by Barbour County deputies. Anthony Antwain Paige, 33, was stopped for speeding on North Midway Street and College Avenue in Clayton while driving a 2016 Dodge Ram traveling 55 mph in a 25 mph zone.
