Area legislators gathered at Dothan City Hall Monday morning for the official announcement of the state’s financial participation in the Wiregrass Innovation Center. The center will be beneficial to the entire Wiregrass area as well as the state of Alabama. Dothan officials were informed that the Alabama Legislature will provide funding for Dothan’s new Wiregrass Innovation Center, which is a collaboration between the City, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, and the Wiregrass Foundation. In specific terms, the state of Alabama is providing $20 million in project funding, while the Wiregrass Foundation is providing $10 million.

Clayton native Acoryé White has secured an Original Streaming deal with Fox Subsidiary, Tubi, which released on Tuesday, June 13th in the United States. and Canada New horror feature film, TRINKET BOX, which made its theatrical debut at the Clark Cinema along with other large theater chains across the U.S., including Regal, Marcus Theatres, Harkins Theatres and Star Cinema Grill , on March 30, 2023. Marianna Richardson and Abby Westbrook represented Eufaula High School at the HOBY leadership conference on May 26-May 28 at Troy University. HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula and Clayton was established in May of 2019 by owners, Kendall and Caroline Glover. Also owners of Glover Funeral Home in Dothan, Kendall is a native of Barbour County having been reared in Clayton, he is the son of Howard and Faye Glover, who reside in Clayton.

We have sent all copy for our “Angels Among Us” magazine that is scheduled to be published the end of the month. It has been an exciting and new project for us to do to recognize 12 angels who were nominated for the recognition. The hard thing about it is that there are so many angels who deserve recognition and many people who go over and beyond to help others. We also appreciate the advertisers who have so willingly supported us in the project. ****** Alabama now has an official state cookie. It’s the Yellowhammer Cookie that includes pecans, peanuts, and oats. The state cookie has been added to the state’s official cake which has been designated as the Lane Cake which originated in Clayton, among many other designations in the state!
