The Eufaula City Council meetings will be held in a different location until further notice due to renovations at the current meeting place. Due to moderate renovations at the Eufaula Police Department, the bi-weekly meetings will be relocated beginning with the Monday, August 7 meeting.
At 103 years of age, Mrs. Bertha Daniels Mulkey always greets others with a smile on her face and continues to be an inspiration to others. She was recently honored on her 103rd birthday at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula. A yard sign in front of the facility.marked the occasion.
The reopening of the Clayton Senior Center that has been closed for more than nine months is progressing. Kim Singleton, the new director Barbour County Commissioners recently hired, has been busy at the site training and getting ready for senior adults to once again gather for activities she is planning.
Rare weather conditions for this time of year in Barbour County caused structure damages, flooding conditions, large hail, direct lightning and thunder, power outages, and traffic detours because of fallen trees. It also brought national attention to the area because of its rarity.
Vehicle thefts and break-ins led Barbour County deputies to the arrest of Jeremiah Orlando Rumph of Eufaula over the weekend. Deputies were successful in recovering two stolen trucks along with a Honda Side by Side as well as items taken from two other vehicles.
