Deputies arrest woman on multiple drug charges

A routine traffic stop for the absence of a tag resulted in the arrest of an Abbeville woman on multiple drug charges by a Barbour County deputy. Deputy Jerad Ingram noticed a brown Jeep as he was traveling on Margaret Drive in Eufaula that had no vehicle tag so he initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and one passenger. The driver’s information returned with no problems but the passenger had warrants on her from Henry County.

A milestone celebration

At 103 years of age, Mrs. Bertha Daniels Mulkey always greets others with a smile on her face and continues to be an inspiration to others. She was recently honored on her 103rd birthday at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula. A yard sign in front of the facility.marked the occasion.

Tornado causes property damages

Rare weather conditions for this time of year in Barbour County caused structure damages, flooding conditions, large hail, direct lightning and thunder, power outages, and traffic detours because of fallen trees. It also brought national attention to the area because of its rarity.

Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula and Clayton was established in May of 2019 by owners, Kendall and Caroline Glover. Also owners of Glover Funeral Home in Dothan, Kendall is a native of Barbour County having been reared in Clayton, he is the son of Howard and Faye Glover, who reside in Clayton.

We have sent all copy for our “Angels Among Us” magazine that is scheduled to be published the end of the month. It has been an exciting and new project for us to do to recognize 12 angels who were nominated for the recognition. The hard thing about it is that there are so many angels who deserve recognition and many people who go over and beyond to help others. We also appreciate the advertisers who have so willingly supported us in the project. ****** Alabama now has an official state cookie. It’s the Yellowhammer Cookie that includes pecans, peanuts, and oats. The state cookie has been added to the state’s official cake which has been designated as the Lane Cake which originated in Clayton, among many other designations in the state!
