Councilman questions license process

Chaos broke out at last week’s Clayton City Council meeting when Councilman Charles L. Weston brought up an incident concerning the city business licenses. Weston had requested to amend the agenda at the beginning of the meeting in order for the council to discuss this issue. All council members, along with Mayor Kathy Thomas, voted to amend the agenda.

Registration opens for Youth Hunts

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (ADCNR) Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) provides several youth dove hunt opportunities throughout the state each fall. A simple hunting setup combined with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere makes WFF’s youth dove hunts an ideal way to introduce young people to the outdoors.

BCHS Jags plan Parents Meet/ Greet football coaches event

Football season is here and the upcoming campaign will kick off with games less than four weeks from now. The Barbour County High Jaguars are planning a Parents Meet/Greet the football coaches from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday August 8th at the BCHS gymnasium. All BCHS football coaches will be present to meet parents, community and BCSD employees. New head football coach Derrick Levette, who was previously the head football coach at Bullock County, takes over the Jaguar program. He replaces Daniel Powell, who has left the system. The team finished 0-10 last year.
