Mural brings back memories of Clayton
Local artist, Debora Baxter Jackson, has put the final touches on a mural in downtown Clayton. The mural appears on the wall of Trey Green’s Law Office facing North Midway Street which is visible from Court Square.

Youth Services to open in Louisville
Southeast Alabama Youth Services Incorporated has announced the opening of a 16 bed male residential treatment program in Louisville. The facility, located on Victoria Street in the former Dixie Academy campus, will open Thursday, September 1.

Deputies transport inmate back to county
After more than two years on the run, Terrell Shmare Mock is back in custody in Barbour County. The Barbour County Sheriff’s Office was notified on July 15 that Mock had been arrested in Belton, Texas by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.
Producers may be eligible for assistance
Barbour County Producers may be eligible for Emergency Conservation Program Assistance Storms in June 2022 caused severe damage in the southeastern portion of the county. Farms and ranches suffering severe damage may be eligible for assistance under the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) administered by the Barbour County Farm Service Agency (FSA).
Barbour at high level risk of COVID-19 cases
Fifty counties in Alabama, one of which includes Barbour County, are listed at a high level when it comes to COVID-19 cases. People in these counties are encouraged to return to wearing masks indoors again, according to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Grants to help victims
Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded grants totaling $316,000 to help provide training and resources that ensure victims of domestic violence have access to professional assistance through local law enforcement and nonprofit agencies.

Council votes on board appointment
After serving 22 years on the Clayton Water Works and Sewer Board, three members of the Clayton City Council voted Monday night to replace Robert L. (Bobby) Warr, who serves as chairman of the board, with a former employee. The chairman is elected by the other two members of the board, all of whom are appointed by the Clayton City Council for six year terms.

Clayton native receives recognition
Clayton native, Ellene Glenn Winn, was formally inducted into the Alabama Lawyers Hall of Fame Friday, March 11, during the 16th Annual Induction Ceremony held at the Heflin- Torbert Judicial Building in Montgomery.
Accidental shooting sends Clio woman to hospital
