Three suspects have been arrested by Eufaula police for their connection to a firearms assault on January 4. A 39-yearold man, who was not identified, was assaulted and sustained a gun shot would to the upper body at an apartment complex on South Randolph Avenue in Eufaula.

An arrest has been made in a shooting incident that occurred Saturday night, January 14, at a south Eufaula establishment. Billy Benefield, age 43, of Eufaula was arawaiting a bond hearing.

Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith wants his deputies to be prepared in the event that a mass shooting incident occurs. That’s the reason the county Sheriff’s Department is conducting mock mass shooting training, one of which was held last week at Barbour County High School in Clayton.

The North Pole door opened and the arctic winds from Winter Storm Elliott blew into Barbour County early Thursday morning bringing subfreezing temperatures. With temperatures dipping below the freezing mark until a slight increase on Monday, residents in the county experienced one of the coldest hard freeze in many years.
