Effective September 1, notary publics are subject to revised laws that were passed in this year’s legislative session. All notaries, excluding attorneys, are now required to complete a training program developed by the Alabama Law Institute and the Alabama Probate Judges Association.
A special master will be appointed to redraw a map for Alabama’s congressional districts. The necessity for a special master to undertake the task came after a panel of federal judges struck down a new congressional map Tuesday passed by Republican legislators during a recent special session of the Alabama Legislature.

Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Eufaula Avenue in Eufaula on Tuesday, August 29 in reference to gunshots in the area. A vehicle in the parking lot was allegedly struck by bullets during the incident. There were no injuries.

A Barbour County High School student was transported by ambulance after sustaining injuries in an altercation Monday morning. Law enforcement officers and Clayton Rescue were dispatched to the school in Clayton about 11 a.m. where students were reported in an altercation in the front hallway of the school. The incident reportedly involved about 10 students and school officials posted on social media that the incident was “quickly resolved and under control.”
