Nearly 350 employees at WestRock have returned to work after they have been on lockout at the Mahrt Mill in Cottonton since October 6. The lockout ended after workers had been out of work for 117 days when an agreement was reached with the three unions and WestRock.
The mother of a young inmate incarcerated at Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton received a call no mother wants to hear. She received a call from the warden informing her that her son, Brandon Crosby, was in critical condition at a Dothan hospital about 11 a.m.

Michael Deramus remains in Barbour County Jail in Clayton after his bond was set at $50,000 last week. Deramus is being charged for assault in the second degree in Barbour County.

Many people will remember the fully stocked produce stand on Highway 82 in Eufaula that was a “must stop” for motorists traveling from Georgia as well as for the locals who wanted a variety of produce.
An early morning collision involving two commercial vehicles near Eufaula resulted in the death of one of the drivers. The accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 82, about four miles from Eufaula, at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, claimed the life of Michael Lashon Stewart, 49, of Cuthbert, GA, according to a report released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
