WestRock lockout ends

Nearly 350 employees at WestRock have returned to work after they have been on lockout at the Mahrt Mill in Cottonton since October 6. The lockout ended after workers had been out of work for 117 days when an agreement was reached with the three unions and WestRock.

Local students graduate from TU

Troy University is pleased to recognize students who completed the requirements for graduation during the Fall Semester and Term 2 of the 2022/2023 academic year. The Fall Semester includes graduates from the Troy campus. Term 2 graduates include students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Alfa agent receives awards

Alfa Insurance Agent Will Peterson in Clayton was recently honored with the 2022 David Christenberry Achiever of the Year Award for Alabama during the company's annual awards ceremony. The award was created in honor of its namesake, former Senior Vice President of Marketing for South Alabama David Christenberry, who passed away in 2016.

Man killed in early morning wreck

An early morning collision involving two commercial vehicles near Eufaula resulted in the death of one of the drivers. The accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 82, about four miles from Eufaula, at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, claimed the life of Michael Lashon Stewart, 49, of Cuthbert, GA, according to a report released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
