Councilmen question city budget
The Clayton City Council met Monday night for the first time since December 5. There was not a meeting scheduled in January, even though the Handbook for Mayors and Council members from the Alabama League of Municipalities states “the council must hold at least two regular meetings each month. Towns (municipalities of less than 2,000 inhabitants) are only required to meet once per month but the town council can adopt an ordinance to require two meetings per month.” In the meeting it was stated that the council voted in December not to meet in January, but according to the December minutes a vote was not taken concerning a January meeting.
