Construction began Monday on an Alabama Department of Transportation highway project on Highway 51 in Barbour County. The project consists of resurfacing and a new traffic stripe on the highway from the Bullock County line to the intersection of Highway 239 in Clayton.
Eufaula citizens turned out for a public hearing Monday night to show support for Medical Center Barbour. Barbour County commissioners held the meeting in Eufaula to gain input from citizens on a consideration to appropriate county funds to assist the hospital during a financial crisis.

A Special Report on the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department was recently conducted by the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts for the period January 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022 The report shows that ineligible and/or undocumented purchases were made from restricted funds of the Fire Department. Official demand was made on the former Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chiefs to refund $106,312.52 of which all except $52,133.38 was granted relief.

An officer with the Eufaula Police Department’s Patrol Division had probably cause to establish contact with a silver Honda passenger vehicle on Eufaula Avenue on Friday, April 7. Upon contact with the driver, further probably cause initiated a search of the vehicle where a baggie containing tablets and numerous loose tablets were discovered.
The Clayton City Council voted unanimously Monday night in a Special Called meeting to award Cooper Construction Company of Clayton the bid to do construction work at the Clayton Municipal Airport. The FAA had advised the city work needed be done for the airport to be in compliance with FAA codes.
