ANNIE FAYE MCLENDON

Annie Faye McLendon, a loving mother, motherin- law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at her residence in Ariton surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church in Ariton, Alabama with Rev. Lavon Singleton and Rev. Don Highland officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing .

A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers were accepted.

Faye was born July 31, 1941 in Louisville, Alabama to the late James William and Eula Bell Miller Clark. She was a graduate of Louisville High School and later owned and operated Fay’s Diner and the Jersey Queen in Louisville. She also owned a daycare where she loved taking care of children. In Faye’s spare time she enjoyed cooking, watching tv, and sewing. She was a member of Louisville Assembly of God where she loved singing and working for the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Loyd Dowling McLendon; six brothers, Lewie Clark, Bill Clark, Loyd Clark, Dennis Clark, Don Clark, and Dowling Clark; three sisters, Lorene Faircloth, Janice Clark, and Voncille Clark; great-granddaughter, Addison Johnson.

Left to cherish her memories are three sons, Jason McLendon (Diane) of Eufaula, Dexter McLendon (Clacy) of Phenix City, and Layton McLendon (Angie) of Ariton; daughter, Linda Potter (Joe) of Seale; sister, Joyce Harris (Ernie) of Clayton; eight grandchildren, Aaron McLendon (Haley), Austin McLendon (Regan), Jeffrey Johnson (Lindsee), Brandon Johnson (Anthony), Michael Birge, Elizabeth Peterson, Robert Farris, and Makayla Cooper; three great-grandchildren, Bryson Johnson, Braxson Johnson, and Madeline Diane Birge.

Asked to serve as pallbearers were Dexter McLendon, Jason Mc-Lendon, Brandon Johnson, Aaron McLendon, Austin McLendon, and Jeffrey Johnson.

The family would like to thank Amy Paramore, Flori, and Jasmine with Enhabit Hospice and Kristi Reader and Kirbi Vickers with Barbour County Home Health for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Faye.
