Alice Turner Morrison, a resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, died Thursday morning, September 21, 2023 at her home. She was 86.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 24, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Charles Vaughn and Mr. Don Barber officiating. Burial followed in the Edwin Cemetery.
Mrs. Morrison was a lifelong resident of the Edwin Community, daughter of the late Grady Turner and Amanda Warren Turner. A member of the Truth non-denominational faith, Mrs. Morrison and her late husband held church services in their home for many years. She was a member of the Edwin Homemakers Club. Mrs. Morrison was retired from Phillips Van Heusen in Ozark as a Band Knife Operator. In earlier years, Mrs. Morrison was employed by Phillips Van Heusen in Clayton and also West-Point Stevens in Abbeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ralph Morrison, a sister, Merlene Trawick, brothers, William Turner, Austin Turner, Bob Turner, Mack Turner, Lagrand Turner and an infant brother. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Debbie Hodges (Spurgeon), Edwin, and Christine Smith (Jackie), Skipperville; a son, Larry T. Morrison, Edwin; two brothers, Billy Turner (Carolyn), Edwin; Jack Turner, Eufaula; and a sister-in-law, June Turner, Ozark; grandchildren, Steven Helms (Samantha), Kevin Helms (Sarah), Paul Morrison (Vicki), Krista Agerton (Randy) and Mandi Prox (Seth); thirteen greatgrandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers were Trevor Helms, Paul Morrison, Kevin Helms, Steven Helms, Spurgeon Hodges, Randy Agerton and Trent Helms.
