JUNETEENTH OBSERVANCE - Rep. Berry Forte and Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs join others for the annual Juneteenth observance held in Eufaula Saturday. This year’s theme was “Striving for Unity and Peace” and was sponsored by the NAACP Barbour County Branch 5075 and co-sponsored by the City of Eufaula, SPLICE Alabama, Sen. Billy Beasley and Rep. Forte. Thursday, June 19, is the official federal and state holiday in observance of Juneteenth. Both courthouses and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday which marks the commemoration of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
