Jane Floyd, manager of the Alabama Beverage Control store in Clayton, said she was standing in the front door of the building when she kept hearing a cracking noise. It was not long before the brick on the front of the building collapsed into the sidewalk on Eufuala Avenue. She was able to run to the back of the building where she escaped through the back door unharmed but shaken. Barbour County deputies and Clayton Fire and Rescue Squad quickly responded to secure the scene and control traffic. ABC agents and Alabama Power Company also were notified to respond to the scene.
