CLIFFORD EARL “RED” McLENDON

Clifford Earl “Red” McLendon, a resident of Clayton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.

Funeral services was held Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Clayton Baptist Church in Clayton, Alabama with Rev. Shane Traylor and Rev. Bill Brown officiating with Glover Funeral Home directing. The burial followed in the Clayton Cemetery. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted.

Clifford was born September 23, 1934, in Barbour County, Alabama to the late James Zackie and Annie Bell Heath McLendon. He retired from American Buildings Co. in Eufaula, Alabama with over 30 years of service. As hobbies, enjoyed raising farm animals, woodworking, hunting, riding horses, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended Clayton Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Carolyn Cook McLendon; five brothers, Wilmer McLendon, Robert McLendon, Dowling McLendon, Henry McLendon, and Ralph McLendon; four sisters, Lee Ella Dykes, Maurine Olds, Dean Brown, and Mamie Sue McLendon Survivors include two daughters, Cara McLendon Griffin (Todd) of Auburn, Indiana, and Caryn McLendon Tyler (Sans) of Eufaula, Alabama; brother, Tommy McLendon (Sylvia) of Texasville, Alabama; two sisters, Mary Kennedy of Eufaula, Alabama, and Joyce Johnson of Graham, Texas; eight grandchildren, Mack Goff (Emma), Callie Jay, Walker Jay, Hunter Jay, Hayden Jay, Emma Tyler, Grant Tyler, and Addie Tyler.

Asked to serve as pallbearers were Mack Goff, Walker Jay, Hunter Jay, Hayden Jay, Grant Tyler, and Steve McLendon.
