Roselyn Strickland Hovey of Louisville passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 in Dale Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was 68.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 at Pine Level Baptist Church (1110 Co. Rd. 33, Louisville, AL). with the Rev. Russell Hagler and the Rev. Earl Crossley officaitiong and Keahey Funeral Home of Clio directing. Burial followed in the Pine Level Church cemetery. The family received friends at the church one hour prior tothe services.
Special music was provided during the service by Beverly Danford and a great niece, Maleah Long. Serving as pallbearers were Jared Long, Shaun Thompson, Jason Thompson, Nicholas Strickland, Brian Ashley Hovey, Keith Houston, Kenneth Houston and Scott Myers.
Peyton Barranco served as honorary pallbearer.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer Hovey of Skipperville; grandchildren, Dylan Myers (Hannah) of Louisville; Dakoda Knight and Tucker Pittman of Skipperville; great grandchildren, Paisley and Baylor Myers of Louisville; honorary daughters, Shelby Smith of Skipperville; Jennifer Barranco of Skipperville; step granddaughter, Shana Knight and her children; sisters, Brenda Long (Larry) of Blue Springs; Mary Thompson of Blue Springs; brother and sister- in-law, Ronnie and Gail Strickland of Dothan; sister-in-law, Meritha Strickland of Clio; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dale Hovey in 2021; her parents, Chalmas and Shellie Mae Spivey Strickland; and brothers, Donnie Strickland, Jerome Strickland and Bruce Strickland.
Mrs. Hovey served 38 years as a secretary and bookkeeper with the Barbour County School System. She loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When her husband was living, she loved to hear him “tell his stories.”
Keahey Funeral Home of Clio was entrusted with the arrangements.
