OSCAR “WAYNE” BROWN

Oscar “Wayne” Brown, a resident of Edwin, Alabama, passed away Saturday morning, May 27, 2023, at his home. He was 88.

Graveside services were held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 29, 2023 at New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church – Clopton, Alabama, with Reverend Danny Henderson officiating. Eulogies were given by his grandchildren, Hanna Smith and Drew Brown. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Mr. Brown to the Texasville Fire Department, 77 County Road 67, Clayton, Alabama 36016. Mr. Brown was born in Henry County, Alabama, to the late Claude Brown and Pennie Bush Cox. He was a life-long resident of the Edwin Community. He was a carpenter by trade where he built many residential homes. He also farmed his entire life. He loved his family, and enjoyed driving his gator to see his cows, riding his tractor, baling his hay, fishing and sitting in his swing. Mr. Brown was an honorary member of the Texasville Fire Department. He was a member of the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church in Clopton, Alabama.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Donald “Duck” Brown and Ronald Brown; and his brother, Bobby M. Brown.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Christene Cordell Brown; his daughter, Donna Barron; his grandchildren, Heather Russell (Brad), Hanna Smith (Stephin), Carley Brown, Courtney Money, Drew Brown, Kirby Brown (Heather), Jameson Brown (Lauren), Dillon Barron (Danielle), Caleb Barron, Shelby Yance (Micah), and Kailee Millirons (Peyton); his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn & Hollyn Russell, McKenzie and Riley Smith, Chloe Brown, and Kathryn and Austin Brown; his daughter- in-law, Chrisalyn Brown; his sisters, Bell Baxley, Dorothy Gould, Beth Scott, and Jean McKnight (James); and his several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers were Drew Brown, Kirby Brown, Jameson Brown, Dillon Barron, Caleb Barron, and Junior Cordell.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to the Henry County Health & Rehab and to Gentiva Hospice.
