Alice Ruth Hudson, 64, of Clayton, Alabama, died Saturday, February 18, 2023 at her home.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 2 P.M., in the Clayton Cemetery with Rev. Russell Hagler officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing.

Born September 16, 1958 in Barbour County, Alabama, Mrs. Hudson was the daughter of the late Foy and Alma Hagler Benefield. Alice was a 1976 graduate of Eufaula High School. She worked 25 years as the office manager for Bracewell and Grant Timber Company. Prior to that, her work history included public education and NASA. She served a four year term on the Clayton City Council and was a board member on the Clayton Water Board. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading and cooking, but the thing that made her the happiest was spending time with her five grandchildren. She and her husband Thomas were married 47 years. During their marriage, they lived and traveled all over the country. Their travels took them to Florida, Colorado and Mississippi, but they returned home to Barbour County in 1990.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Hudson; her son, Jason (Maria) Hudson; her daughter, Jenny (Clay) Strickland; five grandchildren, Trent Hudson, Gabbie Hudson, Maddie Hudson, Emory Strickland and Scarlett Strickland.
