DORIS ELOISE DOMINEY GREEN

Doris Eloise Dominey Green, 93, was born November 16, 1928, to Mary Singuefield Dominey and Dewey Dominey.

She att ended Clayton High School. She was the oldest member of Street Memorial United Methodist Church when it closed its doors last year. Doris was married to the love of her life, Floyd, for 73 years when he passed away 4 ½ years ago.

Affectionately known as Grandmama to family and close friends, she was definitely the matriarch of her large, loud, loving family. Doris was an excellent seamstress, making wardrobes for her daughter as well as herself. She loved sewing until her eyesight began to fail her. She was a great cook, noted for her mac and cheese, fried cornbread, and most of all, hand rolled biscuits. Fortunately for the family, she was able to teach great granddaughter, Laura Beth, the technique.

Grandmama was an excellent farm managermaking sure the hay was harvested on time, the pastures mowed, and the cows fed, all from the comfort of her recliner! This lady never had a problem speaking her mind. We remember the statement she made about her grandchildren, “I was hoping some of them would amount to something.” She lived to see her hope come true. Grandmama loved Auburn football, but could be coerced to wear a Bama shirt if it included a party.

Nothing made Grandmama happier than visits and hugs from her grandchildren and great grands. A visit with her always included a trip to the oven and stove searching for leftovers, especially bacon and biscuits. These children are blessed with precious memories of this feisty, giving lady.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, loving husband, Floyd, and Stan her youngest son.
