Joseph Hunter Grant, 88, of Mt. Lake, Minnesota died Feb. 28, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mountain Lake., Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Friday at Mt. Lake Alliance Church with Pastor Jeremy Oakland officiating. Burial with military honors provided by Mountain Lake American Legion Post 389 Honor Guard was at Mt. Lake City Cemetery in Mt. Lake. .
Joseph Hunter Grant was born Jan. 18, 1934 to Alfred Andrews and Francis (Hall) Grant in Midway, AL. He grew up on the farm in Comer, AL with his brothers, Frank and Allison. Hunter graduated from Eufaula High School in Eufaula, AL in 1952. After one year at Auburn University, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1953 to 1957.
In 1961, Joe married Jeannette Goossen in Mountain Lake. They lived in Mountain Lake and were blessed with three sons: Scott, Timothy and Todd. Hunter worked at Hiebert Greenhouse and for 28 years with the Cottonwood County Highway Department.
For more than 40 years, they traveled to Alabama to see family. Hunter served as a church usher for many years and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening with Jeannette, puttering around in the yard, reading about the Civil War and watching Westerns.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Grant of Mt. Lake; sons, Scott (Jane) Grant of Oakdale, Tim (Debbie) Grant of Lake Crystal and Todd (Bitte) Grant of Mankato; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Martha) Grant of Comer, AL and Allison Grant of Watkinsville, GA.
