Max LaDon Helms, a resident of Blue Springs, died early Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in the Pine Level Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Waddell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the sanctuary of the Pine Level Baptist Church. Social distancing and mask guidelines were observed.

Max Helms was a lifelong resident of Blue Springs, son of the late Talmadge Helms and Maggie Pippins Helms. He was a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church. Max was engaged in farming all his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Portwood Helms, and a sister, Hilda Helms Long.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Janet Evans (Lee), Ariton; Lisa Fisher (Heath), and Jennifer Casteel (Brandon), all of Blue Springs; eight grandchildren, Nash Evans, Austin Evans, Avery Evans, Ethan Fisher, Emma Fisher, Katherine Fisher, Novalee Casteel and Cody Casteel; a brother-in-law, LaDon Portwood (Diane), Ozark; a niece and four nephews.
