Tom Beaty of Clayton was recognized Monday for 25 years of service as a full-time employee at the US Postal Office in Clayton. Tom began his service with the postal service 40 years as a substitute carrier (1985). He states, “At that time I was farming and working at the tractor company and really didn’t want the job with the postal service. But my Dad advised me to take it. He said ‘You may be glad one day you did.’ Events over the years have proven him right.” Tom went full time with the Postal Service in 2000 delivering mail on Rt. 2 Clayton and Rt. Louisville and has been on this same route for his entire 25 years. He has worked for 9 or 10 postmasters and says “I have worked with some mighty good people over the years and still do.” When asked how long he plans to work he said, “Until the Lord tells me it’s time to quit.”
